Blacksmithing
This blacksmithing assistant guide shows the skills and items that
are both needed and recommended for blacksmiths,
identifying the recommended skills and items by following them with a *.
For example: Mining*
Skills
Blacksmithing - Used for making armour and weapons from ingots. Can
be trained by any NPC Blacksmith,
A place these can be found is in Blackfell (north of astalon)
Mining * - Used for obtaining ore from rocks and mines, ores can then be
made into ingots by smelting at a forge ready for making into items.
However this is optional as ores and ingots can be purchased from other
players in the game.
Arms lore * - Used for repairing armour and weapons, also associated
with failures.
Items
Smith's hammer - Used on ingots to make armour and weapons.
Can also be used directly on craftable armour and weapons to repair
them,
to do this you must have a number of the same type of ingots in your
pack as the item you are trying to repair is made from.
Pickaxe * - Used on rocks and mine floors to obtain ores.
Making items
Buy ore from NPC or mine ore from rocks and mines, smelt the ore into
ingots at a forge by double clicking the ore.
Whilst standing next to a anvil either double click your smith's hammer
and target the ingots or double click the ingots
that you wish to make an item out of (ingots must be in your backpack).
This will open a small screen from which you can choose what item you
would like to craft,
find the item would you like to make and double click it. Now you will
attempt to make the item,
this can result in two possible outcomes:
1) You successfully make the item and it will appear in you backpack
2) You fail in you attempt to make the item and may lose a few ingots.
The number of ingots required to make an item varies between items.
% Skill Requirements
All armour requires a certain amount of blacksmithing skill to make,
the better the armour the higher you skill must be. Here is a list of
all craftable armour and the level of
blacksmithing skill required to make each one. This table also shows the
% mining skill required to mine the ores
Bronze alloy and Dark deus ingots can be made by blacksmiths, Bronze
alloy requires 60% blacksmithing and is made from bronze and rusty
ingots.
Dark deus requires 100% blacksmithing skill and its made from deus and
blackrock ingots.
Key
Metal - The type of metal.
BS - The amount of blacksmithing skill required to craft the armour.
Mining - The amount of mining skill required to mine the ore from mines
or rocks.
Best for gains
The best items to make for getting gains and raising your
blacksmithing skill are maces, followed by short spears once you
have enough skill to make them. I also found it helped to make gorgets
from the lower metals that players do not buy, For
example Copper and Rusty. These gorgets can then be sold to NPC
blacksmiths. This worked for me, and hopefully will
for everyone else.
