This Tinkering assistant guide shows the skills and items that are both
needed and recommended for
tinkering, identifying the recommended skills and items by following
them with a *. For example: Mining*
Requirements
Skills
Tinkering - Used for making containers, tools, jewelry and other items
from iron ingots and logs.
Can be trained by any NPC Tinker, One can be found in Blackfell.
Mining * - Used for obtaining ore from rocks and mines, ores can then be
made into ingots by smelting at a forge ready for making
into items. However this is optional as ores and ingots can be purchased
from other players in the game.
Lumberjacking * - Used for obtaining logs from trees, however this is
optional as logs can be purchased from other players in the game.
Items
Tinker's tools - Used on ingots or logs to make containers, tools,
jewelry and other items
Pickaxe * - Used on rocks and mine floors to obtain ores
Hatchet (or other bladed item) * - Used on trees to obtain logs
Making items
Buy ingots from NPC or other players, or mine ore from rocks and mines,
smelt the ore into ingots at a forge by double clicking the ore.
Double click you tinker's tools, this will open a small screen from
which you can choose what item you would like to
craft, find the item would you like to make and double click it. Now you
will attempt to make the item,
this can result in two possible outcomes:
- You successfully make the item and it will appear in you backpack
- You fail in you attempt to make the item and may lose a few
ingots.
The number of ingots and logs required to make an item varies between
items.
% Skill Requirements
All tinkering items require a certain amount of tinkering skill to make,
unfortunately I do not know what % skill
each needs, but here is a list of all tinkering items and the amount of
resources required for making each item.

Best for gains
The best items to make for getting gains and raising your tinkering
skill I found were key rings.
This worked for me, and hopefully will for everyone else.
